LUCK! - I'm gonna freaking need it

If it was one year ago, today I would be elated and rapturous and practically vomitting rainbows and flowers in my ecstatic bliss, because today is the end of Semester 1. But since we're all Sec 4s now and that is the equivalent of O Level's, I can't say I'm very happy over that... Why? 2 days (not counting today). Chinese. Mother Tongue. O. Level.

June 1st is gonna be one hell of a day. Or at least, the morning to early afternoon of June 1st. It just occurred to me that I am going to sit for a MAJOR EXAM that will be reflected on -what everybody stresses on 'our passport' to Poly/JC- the O LEVEL CERTIFICATE and I am not one bit in the least feeling prepared or like I can ace it at all. In short, I FEEL LIKE I AM GOING FOR MY O LEVELS WITHOUT STUDYING ONE SCRAP OF MATERIAL. And this is just Mother Tongue. I know I won't feel like this for my other subjects (because they're in English and that is the language I comprehend) but I just feel so insecure.

I must confess: My mother tongue sucks like hell. It hurts to know that no matter how hard I try I would not be able to reach the passing standard. Touch wood, hopefully I would this time. I really want to pass, even if it is a D7. But at this rate, I doubt I can. Touch wood, I hope I can get that grade. And if I do fail this exam - touch wood, hopefully I DON'T - Then I would have to retake, then do I go for the O Level Chinese again? Or do I switch to Syllabus B?

No one can be good at everything - though I've seen some who are, well good for them they'll go very far in life. And though all my other subjects are satisfactory, just this one subject that I keep failing and cannot - just CANNOT - seem to pass, it just hurts and worries and leaves me aching and crying. Will it ever go away?

Have I tried my very hardest, I ask of myself now. Have I really, really tried? I don't know. Two sides of me split up and say YES and NO. I should leave it up to my results, entities and everybody up there to answer what I can't bring myself to say. I think for now, I'll do what I can and just really really try my best on Monday.

Reach out for the D or C. I'm reaching out for it.

On the sidelines, I've got my results from SA1, pretty much the last school exam I'll be taking if I don't count my prelims. I'm pretty pleased with it, but there's always room for improvement.

SUBJECT / CA / SA / COMBINED / GRADE
1. English / 63.9 / 61.8 / 62.6 / B4
2. Chinese / 32 / 34 / 33.3 / F9 [fuck]
3. A Maths / 78.1 / 68.5 / 72.1 / A2
4. E Maths / 77.6 / 88.6 / 84.5 / A1
5. Science / 76.4 / 79.1 / 78.1 / A1
6. Humanities / 75.9 /69.0 / 71.6 / A2
7. Literature / 59 / 70 / 65.9 / B3
Civic & Moral Ed.: A [w.t.h. is this?]

Percentage: 66.9%
Level position: 22/211
L1R4: 10
L1R5: 13

Comments: Michelle is an affable, conscientious student who is a joy to teach. She has done relatively well this semester. However she must work very hard for CL and aim to pass the subject. On the whole, good job Michelle but aim for better!

... Aim to pass...? D7's a pass to me. Or anything better than a Fucking 9.

I'm going to need a bleeding miracle.

Welp, I'm done.

And oh, checked the OPSS website for the post-examination activities after Marking Day.

We have career day on Wed... And Mock O Levels' on Friday... Then the lit class got AMSND play later in the Friday night. Well, this is gonna be one hectic week.

My real answer to question 25
after rereading questtion 13
my answer would be HIM, or you.
Cause you don't. you really don't.

"You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset. She's going off about something that you said. She doesn't get your humor like i do. I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night. I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like, and she'll never know your story like i do. But she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts. She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers, dreaming 'bout the day when you wake up and find that what you're looking for has been here the whole time. If you could see that I'm the one who understands you, been here all along, so why can't you see you belong with me? You belong with me. Walkin' the streets with you and your worn out jeans, I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be."

SHOOT THE GODDAMN FUCKER!!!

My mind is exhausted - well - kind of, anyway.

For one, thank God and everything holy that blessed us with life, cause A Maths and practically all the MYEs are over! Now all that's left is Phys/Chem Paper 1... Which is MCQ. So study and practice diligently for that on Sunday, and I should be set.

For two, 3 hour long hairdressing (when I originally thought it was just an hour long - I is wrong, ain't I?). I went to cut and reborn my hair again, cause it was getting out of control and was touching my second collar of my school shirt, since last December, and apparently my hair that seemed alright to me was ... atrocious, grosteque, macabre, scathing and repulsive to the hairdresser. She was so eager to straighten out my hair and cut it an inch short. So now, I look like a freak. Give it a few weeks, my old emo-hardcore-trash hair will return. Ughhhh, I can't bear to look at my ug-ass hair in the mirror. For now, anyway.

And finally three. RESIDENT EVIL 5. I brought over my bro's PS3 game over to Zhi Qing's house and we played it. Fun fact: ZQ's CD version was different from mine, so we had to start a new game. Problem? None whatsoever - except for the fact that I had NEVER touched the PS3 controller, let alone played the game.

So you can tell, the first level of the game was SHEEIT because I found it hard to aim... But later on my accuracy improved. I do good at backup and sniping. Woohoo! :D Surprisingly we did not die (except for some parts where we were supposed to press buttons... It was my fault :p) oh and we killed 3 bosses, got through a part of the game with VERY LIMITED AMMO (when there were so many freakingass zombies)... and we killed the chainsaw man many times over, because we refused to believe he was dead - it was a waste of bullets, but it was WORTH IT.

Playing the game was fun. It was even fun-ner playing with Zhi Qing. So now, I shall spend my days playing and training with my brother and soon I will become an RE5 pro. But for now, I'll jsut be a noob. :p

Fridays are funnnnnnie. Now to relax. Gahh I'm tired.

P.S. THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY IS FUCKING AWESOME. Just read TUA Dallas #6, freaking awesome. Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba are fucking geniuses.

"Fireworks for the dead, it's time to put yourself to bed. In the hospital, the friends you stole surround you. Did the devil sign your check, when they pulled you from the wreck? There was nothing left to recognize about you. Let it in. Let it go. When they lift you up, there's something you should know. What you find, it might astound you. 'Cause the word, my friend, is big enough without you." - The Umbrella Academy Dallas #6

Chocolate parties, Bottletrees and Illogical Seminars

I'm gonna recount the awesome fun stuff that happened to me over the past few days in a newspaper-like/ interview-kinda-thing/ reporter-blitz format, cause I'm trying to be unique, but I was always fail, but, hey, I tried.
______________________________________

7th May 2009, Thursday
NON-STUDYING MOOD CELEBRATED WITH A CHOCOLATE PARTY

After her E Maths tuition and accessing Facebook for countless hours on end - and losing her IQ whilst doing it - Michelle Neo was contacted by Elva Ng [VAVA! :D] and asked if she were able to come to Michelle's house to study. Despite the Mother and Dog factor, the deal was settled and Elva immediately reached Michelle's house and the study session began.

However, it was not successful. They, instead, talked about school, insects [creepy little buggers] and everything NOT related to schoolwork and the mid-year examinations. This "non-studying" mood was then celebrated with the two girls snacking on toasted Pop Tarts [delicious chocolate biscuits brought over by Elva] and a frozen Chocolate Mousse cake. The excess energy in the sugar-rush was then transferred into more nostalgic and incredible chatter about their life experiences - not studying, cause who wants to waste that much energy on it?!

Though at the end no studying was actually done - or even attempted - both Michelle and Elva did recount back their lives entering Secondary school, their progress in friendships and academics, and finally the sad conclusion that 2009 signals the end of a brilliant 4-years of "mature childishness" [(c) Elva created that term]. After that, Elva left to meet her friend and Michelle fell over and died in emositic depression and that marked an end - or a beautiful beginning - of the concept of chocolate parties.

Personal Comments:
Holy crap you guys, we have to have a chocolate party! Just bring all types of chocolate [cake, icecream etc.] to someone's house, talk/do senseless stuff and just go sugar-rush crazy! THANKS ELVA! IT WAS AWESOME HAVING YOU OVER! - I would have died of tragic boredom on Facebook if you hadn't come.

8th May 2009, Friday
SHOETHROWER INVASION @ BOTTLETREE LAKE!

Authorities were disgusted and described the scene hours after the chaos as "alarmingly grisly and just plain WACKY."

A shot taken before mass destruction ensured.
[get one today! especially you CHARLOTTE]

It was nearly 11am when the notorious, stylish, sleek and sexy Shoethrowers (exlcuding Sarah Ashley Tan and including Nicolette Pereira) left the school vicinity and walked down to the Bottletree Lake, located opposite the Yishun Stadium. It was observed that the group of 6 (fabulous and fierce) girls had wanted to go there many times over the span of almost two years, only it was that fateful day they decidedly chose to take over the once-peaceful Lake.

The Shoethrowers were: Wan Zhi Qing, Zaris Azira, Praise Keana Bautista Llamas, Michelle Neo [that me foo'], Charlotte Wong and Nicolette Pereira.

However, it was not just the Bottletree Lake that experienced the horror. While crossing over the overhead bridge, The Shoethrowers - for the explicit reason of FUN:D - showed the Hitler salute sign. Surprisingly, some car-drivers waved back. However, when they switched their salute to pure friendly waving, a bus-driver gave them the finger. The Shoethrowers were then described to have "laughed it off".

One of the members, Charlotte Wong, commented, "We do the Hitler thing, then somebody waves back at us. We wave at them, then they give us the finger. What the f- does that tell you?"

What did it tell them indeed? We do not know.

The Shoethrowers then commenced ravaging the park with their constant "ooh's!" and "aah's!" and their infernal (XD lolwtfrite) camwhore-antics. However, they were warded off by amazing stalker fish that followed the Shoethrowers around when they corssed a bridge.

They camwhored with fish, the bottletree signs, the bottletree itself, the road even, a stranger's car (sshhhh!), umpire's chairs, a fake tiger and the exit. All the horror can be viewed on Facebook.

LATEST NEWS: THE SHOETHROWERS THREATENED!

However the horror managed to spread to Northpoint, after two of the members - Praise and Nicolette - left for home, and when the remaining four dove straight to KFC for some unknown reason. They were witnessed to have panicked and scrapped money from their pockets, trying so hard to put together enough money for a meal and still have enough left to send Charlotte home on the bus. All was saved when Michelle noticed she had 10cents more than her original amount and thus everybody was able to sit down to a good, CHEAP KFC meal.

However, the group was - ironically - threatened by the Lady With The Eagle-Eyes, as she had easily forked out enough money for her family to sit to a better KFC meal... And the Shoethrowers watched them feast in jealously, and many comments were remarked. The drama did not end there, even after they left to go to the library, for they (mostly Zhi Qing) were under the impression the Lady With The Eagle-Eyes would come attack them any second... For what reason? Perhaps because they overheard some of the comments and are NOT happy with them that they would go after the Shoethrowers armed with parangs and cold hard cash that the Shoethrowers could never afford? Experts are still deliberating the reason.

The day then ended at the library with fear and uncertainty.

Personal Comments:
Well, for one my brain is getting tired from describing everything that happened in third person. Who knew writing a recount in third-person was so tiresome? And I kinda feel bad writing about this actually. We, well-off teenagers who have an education and parents, are poor? What about those in Africa? Or even those in Singapore, who can't even afford this cheaply-priced shit?! Sighh... I feel bad and guilty.

Though you gotta admit, it was a pretty hilarious day. The fish stalked us, the people hated us... Yup it's a good day for the Shoethrowers. As always.

9th May 2009, Saturday
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S SEMINAR

EVERYBODY LOVES ASHTON!

The Orchid Park Secondary 4 Literature class of 2009 - all 11 of them - were to go for a seminar about one of their Lit books they were doing for Lit - Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Following Michelle, who kindly allowed our reporting team to follow her day's journey, the day began with her waking up late. Like always. Then she was late in meeting Elva and Charlotte, who were enjoying the scenes by the Singapore River. They then proceeded to have breakfast at the nearby McDonalds'. Azira then came along and they all sat to a hearty breakfast before heading back to the Singapore River to wait for the remaining students to arrive.

After Zhi Qing came, they all rushed down to 1 Marina Boulevard, home to the NTUC Auditiorium, and met Ashton, Nicolette and Harkiran there. They then realized that Shermaine, Dinah and Nazry were late. Lots of panic and backtalking about the other schools ensued. Once the three students arrived, they elevatored (lolrly) up to the seventh floor where the seminar was held, and lucky for them, it had just started.

They then took down notes and thought the good part about the seminar was that it was very fruitful in recaping everything in AMSND. However, Michelle's question of whether Demetrius was happy after being FORCED into loving Helena was dismissed by the speaker, and his immortal words "YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO QUESTION THE LOGIC" made her feel like it was like Nazi government propaganda - YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO QUESTION THE LOGIC - and come to a conclusion that if you were to question logic in Shakespeare's words, you would fail your Literature O Levels'. Terribly. Yeah, nice work Shakey.

The seminar ended and then Elva, Michelle, Nazry, Zhi Qing, Charlotte and Azira headed down to Marina Centre to eat at KFC. Along the way was a very funny comedy because everybody all wanted to go into different shops and they were running short of time, so everyone was practically a bodyguard to someone else, with the sole purpose of ensuring that the person does not want to get into the shop he/she wants. Thought chaotic, it was hilarious.

Once everything was eaten, and more shops were being prevented from being looked into, everyone went home, except for Charlotte and Michelle who headed off to Bugis to pray for Vesak Day and buy a gift for Gary before they went down to the airport to study. At almost 7pm, they both went home, with their butts cold from studying on the marble floor because the cafe would not let them study in there.

Personal Comments:
Well, it sucked for one, having to study on the cold floor.

And for two... I dislike Shakespeare. For ILLOGICAL REASONS.

4 minutes to bleed

I came across this whilst scanning through a Stephen King book... It was just one of those things that you add to the start of a new part of the book or a chapter to give it a nice touch, or even a subtle introduction... And being Stephen King, it ain't one of those nice and sweet messages to start off a fruity and sweet chapter (he's the #1 horror writer, of course something's gonna go gory).

The Heart by Stephen Crane

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.

I said, “Is it good, friend?”
“It is bitter - bitter,” he answered;
“But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart.”

I don't know what you see or infer from this, but what I think is that we, humans, are the creatures, and our hearts are bitter with hate, woe, troubles, pain, all that melancholic stuff, but we have to learn to accept it, our cruel fate - and "eat" it.

I don't know, my opinions are flawed as anybody else's. But reading this made me conscious of something, that no matter what hardships hit us and no matter how poor, dejected or low we become, the best of us accept this bitter reality and we try to make the best of it, the rest of us have to slowly chew it, or we could just throw the heart away and commit suicide, whatever fits each individual's fancy.

Anyway, Physics was a little confusing and disheartening for me. I struggled with the formulas and trying to grasp the simplistic concepts and reqiurements of the questions, but lucky me, after discussing with Charlotte my apparent worries and struggles were unfounded. I MIGHT PASS! And that's not normal for people (who suck at physics) like me.

E Maths paper 2 tomorrow, and then (if fate is feeling generous) a complete Shoethrower's outing down to Bottletree Lake a.k.a. the fishing farm that we wanted to go to for two years now! WOO!!! :D

"It's your light that guides me, welcoming a brand new life, my path has been set straight. I'm dancing with this fire, I'm dancing with the flame. You say that this scares you. He knows this as well. Go in the right path and you shall not fail. And now I'm walking on my mistakes. It's all where I'm going, not where I've been. You're the blood of love's creation. Let life begin. ... Take my hand, I'll show you everything. No questions remain, this is a war."

Oh we'll live.

So, today (well, yesterday too perhaps) marks the beginning of the last-minute mugging, the burning the midnight oil at night, of studying at the eleventh-hour, whatever term you want to put across - simply slapped across:

MYES ARE HERE. Ready or not, whether you studied or not, good luck.

Anyway, today was E Maths paper 1 and surprisingly it was feasible, managable and - dare I say? - easy. I was searching through the paper for any tricky questions, any question that meant to make us do something and slip up... but no, this paper seemed pretty easy to me. No tricky questions or questions that require you to sit there and rack your brains for a solution... Just pure easy questions that we've done before.

I'm confident in getting good marks for this paper. Maybe my graph sketching and that clock question might be wrong, but I have no reason to fret and worry like crazy. Unless my careless mistake streak decides to pay me a visit, I should be fine.

It makes me scared and happy that I have confidence for this MYE. Never mind the advanced, that's a long while ago. Alright, let's see where 70% of studying can get me this mid-year.

Oh yes... But then again after that was Literature... Which almost 90% of the Lit class did question 1a... and it got me worried because I did 1b and I felt it didn't go as well as I wanted to. Perhaps I made a mistake? Oh well, it was still alright for the essay. But for the unseen part I was pretty confident in my answer, just wished I remembered to state that the character's wild imagination and morbid thoughts of murderers and helpless vicitms that triggered her paranoia and that was what made her so nervous and jumpy.

Ah well, I'm still pretty confident for the rest of the MYEs. Memorized Rise of Venice so far... Meh, I'm gonna go sleep before I start studying again. Screw the advanced! At least I'll get my passes for my main subjects!

this will grant me no absolution whatsoever:
i want out of everything.
there's nothing to be futilely worried or concerned about
i'm bearing everything out in the open
it makes me feel sad
that i don't feel much anymore

"Cause this is the day your life is gonna change. There's no escape, apology would be too late. Cause you're heading south for the border, this is the site of the murder. Cause you're armed with hate and a handgun, girl get in the car, I'm riding shotgun. You're armed with hate and a handgun! Girl get in the car I'm riding shotgun! Dead men tell no lies.Oh, it wasn't me. Dead men tell no lies. Oh, it wasn't me. But this is not your last forgiveness, I'm not the one who holds the key. So lock it up, lock it up, lock it up. Hearts will break tonight, hearts will break tonight."

LOVERS && HATERS

Well, so we had a study session. Me, Zhi Qing, Ian, Nazry and Joel Lim, from debate camp last year.

Anyway, so I arranged for ZQ and Ian to meet at 12:30 pm... I was the latest to come of three. Waited and waited and waited for Joel, he arrived at close to 2 pm. We had a very short and brief meet-and-greet session before we then headed down to The Cathay to study at Ben & Jerry's. Ordered a mix and match waffle before we got down to studying.

It didn't last long before we started sidetracking from the studying. I forgot all my A Maths formulas and couldn't do half the questions, Ian just sat there reading Physics notes and asking trick Physics questions, Zhi Qing wrote out my SS notes and talked about Star trek... It seemed Joel was the only one ACTUALLY studying and doing something productive. The rest of us were under the delusion we were studying. Or at least, maybe just I perhaps.

Halfway Joel wanted to go check out movie timings (Labour day special: FREE POPCORN AND COKE!), I followed him and we looked at the movies and the timings. Movies sucked, timings weren't that nice either. So we headed back upstairs to study again.

Then later, Nazry phoned in and I headed to the MRT to go get him. Then we all studied again. And failed. We conversed about the movies that were coming in May and June and stuff... We talked about senior pranks and the Superhero Movie, which, i'faith, you guys seriously need to watch.

And then we went to go check movie timings again, but this time we headed to the top floor to decide which movie poster looks best - and we watch it. Fun fact: EVERYBODY came along! Which meant NOBODY was caring for our stuff! But I think those JC students next to us actually helped keep an eye on our belongings, such nice people.

Anyway, once we got to the top floor, we looked at the movie posters and once again checked out the timings. Joel, Naz and me wanted to watch Taken, but dreaded front-row seats were left, so we decided against it. Free popcorn and coke would have to wait for another public holiday.

So we packed up and roamed around The Cathay before heading off back to Plaza Sing. Zhi Qing and Ian went home whilst Joel, Naz and I went to eat. We ate at KFC and talked about various subjects. And when I say this, I mean it - Nazry and Joel were absolutely fated to meet. Avid fans of the same stuff is a very nice and heartwarming aspect of friendship. :D

Then we walked around Plaza Sing, checking out various shops, before we all went home at around 7. Though today's study session failed quite badly (for most of us), it was still a good day to get together with friends and have a social gathering instead. It was a nice day, really. Yesiree... Oh and Joel Lim is so freaking cool. Flat out ruled.

Anyway, once I got home, slacked. Didn't study or do finish my A Maths like I intended to but watched loathesome Chinese drama serials instead. I hate that these shows are so stereotypical and fake but I can't help but be addicted to them! Sigh... I really do want to commit suicide for my MYEs, don't I?

Better hop to it.

"Love me hate me, say what you want about me. But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy. Love me hate me, but can't you see what I see? All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy. Love me hate me, la la la, la la la. Amy told me that she's gonna meet me up. I don't know where or when and now they're closing up the club, oh, I've seen her once or twice but boy she knows my face. But it's hard to see with all the people standing in the way, oh."
